Mary-Jane Wagle is a community volunteer, following a career in community development, affordable housing development, domestic and global reproductive health care and most recently author and editor of the book Temsalet: Phenomenal Ethiopian Women, while living in Ethiopia as a volunteer. She served as Vice President, International Programs, for Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) for just over one year, following a six-year tenure as the chief executive of Planned Parenthood Los Angeles (PPLA), one of the largest local affiliates of PPFA, where she had served on the board, including as board chair, for nearly 12 years. Mary-Jane also served as a board member and board chair of NARAL Pro-Choice America. Prior to her tenure as CEO of PPLA, Mary-Jane worked in the area of real estate and community and economic development; she was a founding partner of ONE Company, a Los Angeles-based affordable housing development group, and a founder and board member of WORKS, a Los Angeles nonprofit housing and community development organization. She has a bachelor’s degree in Government from Harvard University and a Master’s Degree in Urban Planning from the University of California at Los Angeles. Mary-Jane is grateful to be the mother of three daughters and the grandmother of three grandchildren and three step-grandchildren.
