I am a 42 year old Los Angeles native. I grew up in Topanga Canyon but now reside in Hollywood with my husband Jake Kasdan and our 3 children (Otis 6, Beau 4 and Lorelei 4). I attended Topanga Elementary, Paul Revere Junior High and Crossroads School for high school. I had a brief stint at Emerson College in Boston, but was torn away by the promise of a record deal at Geffen records where I released my first album at 21 years old. And from that time to now I have been recording and releasing records under my own name, and with my bands Merrick, The Bird and The Bee and The Living Sisters.
I have always tried to do my part in giving back to my community. I have performed at many charity events. Throughout the years I have organized many concerts to benefit the Theatricum Botanicum (a non-profit community theater in Topanga) and the Plastic Pollution Coalition. I have been a part of the host committee for Planned Parenthood’s event “Politics Sex and Cocktails” for over 10 years and a few years ago, Jake and I were named as Champions of Choice. Since having children, or maybe it’s just getting older, the inequity of our society has become an even more glaring and painful thing for me to confront. There are too many people and so many children that never get close to the opportunities that my family and I have access to. I am very eager to do whatever I can to bridge that gap.
