Meet Hamilton High School student Linda Hernandez, a great example of what surrounding a student with a community of support can do!
Throughout the past three years in the program, Linda has been an active and driven student. She is deeply involved in her school's extra-curricular activities, including the Lacrosse team and a member of the Asian Student Association, the Latin American Studies Student Organization, the Women of Color for Activism club, and the Treasurer of Hamilton's Fashion Club.
With Linda's innate determination, CISLA's role has been to walk alongside her throughout her high school journey. Working with site coordinator Faith Moore, Linda has cultivated her community-building and leadership skills. Through her involvement with CISLA's targeted student group program, Ladies First, she has been a notable example of personal and academic success for younger students in the Ladies First group. Throughout her senior year, Linda often drops into the CISLA office to get advice and assistance on college and graduation related. Site coordinator, Faith Moore, is so proud of Linda, and while she will miss Linda's positive presence in the office, she is so excited for her and her journey!
Linda is a first generation college student. In Fall 2022, Linda will begin a new chapter at the University of California, Riverside, where she will study Sociology. She hopes to study abroad in Japan or Korea to dive deep into her passion for exploring the culture.
