CISLA College Essay Mentorship
The CISLA College Essay Mentoring Program is an opportunity for professionals to connect with high school seniors and help them craft the best Personal Statement possible, increasing our seniors' chances of college and scholarship success.
The length of the mentorship lasts as long as it takes to create and finalize a Personal Statement. Matching will occur towards the end of September. UC/Cal State’s deadline is November 30 (pending any changes), and most students will be applying to these schools.
Once you all have completed the personal statement, the mentorship is formally over. If you choose to keep in touch, that is between the mentor and mentee. Each week, you should aim to communicate 2 - 4 times a week via email, text, FaceTime, Zoom, etc. There is no time limit for these interactions, only that you stay on track to completing the personal statement before the application deadlines.
Mentors and students must sign up no later than Friday, September 29, 2023.
