At CISLA, we empower students to break through barriers.

At Communities In Schools of Los Angeles (CISLA), we unlock the potential in every student by surrounding them with a community of support. Through transformative one-on-one relationships and school-wide initiatives, we help students confront and overcome barriers that stand between them and a brighter future. With caring adults by their side, students gain the tools, confidence, and opportunities they need to succeed academically, socially, and emotionally—empowering them to take charge of their own story and define their success for life.

Fuel the Year: A Strong Start for Every Student

Back-to-school season should be a time of possibility, growth, and hope. But this year, many return under the shadows of fear and loss.

At CISLA, we know that for many of the students we serve across South L.A., Pico Union, Boyle Heights, Watts, and West L.A., the first day of school can feel less like a fresh start and more like a test of resilience. Across Los Angeles, the families we serve face systemic barriers to success—and the start of the school year is one of the most financially stressful times.

That’s why your support matters so much right now.

When you give to CISLA this back-to-school season, you’re not just helping for one day or one moment. You’re fueling the trained staff, trusted relationships, and year-round programs that keep students connected, supported, and safe—no matter what challenges arise.

Your gift ensures CISLA is present-- walking beside students through every challenge, every triumph, every step of the way. You can help students and families feel seen, know they matter, and understand they are not alone.

Your impact starts here.

What We Do

2

Community Partnerships

Collaborating with community partners and local businesses, CISLA connects students and their families to vital resources, from recruiting volunteers for tutoring programs and building clothing closets to securing access to medical care for families in need—ensuring students have the support they need to thrive both inside and outside the classroom.

3

College and Career Readiness

Preparing students for life beyond high school, CISLA offers guidance on college applications, financial aid, and career exploration, ensuring students are equipped to pursue their goals.
