Αshley Βatres
Development and MarCom Associate
Ashley Βatres (Development and MarCom Associate) joined CISLA in August 2024 and supports the organization’s development and communications efforts. She manages CISLA’s donor database, social media presence, and marketing platforms, while also supporting data reconciliation, fundraising projects, and resource development. Ashley previously served as liaison to the Board of Directors, where she helped streamline operations and strengthen board engagement.
Before joining CISLA, Ashley was an intake manager and legal assistant at a workers’ compensation law firm, where she supported attorneys in advocating for injured workers, especially those navigating language or immigration-related barriers. She conducted legal research and simplified communication to help clients feel seen and supported through an often overwhelming process. That experience sparked her desire to shift into nonprofit work and to seek work that uplifts and advocates for communities more directly.
Ashley also interned with the California State Senate, where she supported constituent engagement and assisted with research and outreach in the 32nd District.
She holds a B.A. in Political Science with a minor in Spanish from CSU Long Beach and studied abroad at the University of Salamanca in Spain, where she completed specialized training in English–Spanish translation and interpretation.
In her free time, Ashley enjoys live music, planning her next trip, working out, crocheting, and exploring new restaurants. She’s visited fourteen countries so far and is always adding to the list.
