Ambar Martinez

Site Director
John Liechty Middle School

Ambar Martinez-Aguayo has worked in the education non profit sector for 20 years, starting her career in 2005 as an English SAT Prep instructor. She has had roles as an after school site coordinator, youth case manager, school community manager, school business operations manager before becoming a Site Director at John Liechty Middle School in 2021. She has worked closely with the LA Unified school district in that same time with LA based non profit Youth Policy Institute and with charter school network KIPP SoCal.

A child of Salvadoran immigrants, Ambar was the second daughter to attend college in her family. During her time at Cal State University Northridge, Ambar focused on adolescent development and cognitive behavioral therapy earning her bachelors degree in psychology.

Ambar enjoys spending time with her husband and son at the beach, playing board games with her larger family and baking new recipes on the weekends. Her favorite recipes are carrot cake and olive focaccia bread. She is fluent in Spanish and Italian.
