Charmeka Dozier

Charmeka N. Dozier (Site Director) joined CISLA in January 2019, bringing 10+ years of experience working in nonprofit organizations, focusing on youth development, family engagement, and community support. Charmeka began her career with CISLA as a Site Coordinator at Santee Educational Complex and was dedicated to supporting her students’ success through one-on-one academic and attendance monitoring, hosting targeted small groups, and social emotional learning activities. After gaining experience working with this diverse population, Charmeka was promoted to Site Director in 2020 and began working at Mark Twain Middle School as Site Director.

In her role as Site Director, Charmeka collaborates with school staff, families, and community partners to support student achievement. Charmeka provides one-on-one individual academic and attendance planning, social emotional learning (SEL) programming, linkage to services, and basic needs support.

Charmeka is trauma-informed trained and has received certifications in evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Resourceful Adolescent Program (RAP-A), and The Incredible Years (IY). She is passionate about building strong connections with students and families, helping them navigate challenges, and ensuring they have access to resources that promote growth and success.

Charmeka completed her undergraduate degree in psychology with a minor in criminal justice at California State University Dominguez Hills in 2009. After graduating, Charmeka began working at a community service agency, serving underrepresented communities in Los Angeles County, providing home services to children, adolescents and families. After gaining experience working with this diverse population for three years, Charmeka realized that youth development, and community support was her true calling and something she was genuinely passionate about. Charmeka received her master's degree in counseling with a concentration in Marriage Family and Child Therapy in 2014 and began working at Amanecer as a School Base Therapist.

Personal hobbies include watching old movies, listening to podcasts, and traveling to new places.
